Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is a specialized intervention designed to help children develop the skills needed for daily activities, learning, and play. This therapy focuses on enhancing fine motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, self-care abilities, and overall independence. Through individualized, hands-on sessions, occupational therapists work with children to improve their ability to engage in age-appropriate tasks such as handwriting, dressing, feeding, and social interactions. An assessment is needed before OT Therapy can commence.

An OT consultation provides guidance, strategies, and resources to support a child’s daily functional skills. It focuses on educating caregivers and teachers rather than direct therapy. The therapist may discuss concerns, observe the child, and offer practical solutions to improve participation in self-care, play, and other activities. This option might involve a combination of observations on child, as well as CG interview, questionnaires, etc. This is not direct therapy with the child and does not provide a full assessment of the child’s function.

Deby Shevat, MOT OTR/L, has developed several trainings for caregivers and educational staff – in topics such as “How to foster typical development at home?”, “Sensory Integration”, and more. I am passionate about empowering communities – reach out in order to discuss potential collaboration.
